TOWSON, Md. - For the third time this season, Catholic University women's track & field senior Andrea Galeano has been named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week after an impressive performance at the Larry Sharp Memorial Invitational, hosted by Hagerstown Community College, on Sunday.
Galeano picked up right where she left off after last week's DIII Invitational at the Armory, where she also earned field athlete of the week honors. She took the top spot in both the weight throw and shot put events on Sunday.
The Stratford, Conn. native dominated the weight throw event, beating the nearest competition by over 5 meters. Her last attempt was a 16.95m, which currently sits as the 10th best throw in all of Division III.
Galeano followed with another first place finish in shot put. Out of the 13 competitors, her attempt was the only one to clear 10 meters, going 10.75m.
Galeano's first field athlete of the week award came on December 10 after winning silver in the shot put event at the Holiday Meet hosted by Haverford College. She's now garnered the honor for two consecutive weeks to give her three awards this winter season.
The Cardinals will compete against conference competition next Saturday, February 16 at the Susquehanna Invitational.
