NEWARK, Del. – The Catholic University women's track and field team placed sixth overall at the Delaware Classic on Saturday.
Freshman Paige Wilderotter led the Cardinals on the track with two top ten finishes. The Allendale, N.J. native placed third in the 1500m (4:59.35), and eighth in the 800m with a time of 2:31.33. Sophomore Victoria Carlini finished just ahead of Wilderotter in the 800m with a fifth-place finish (2:27.86). Junior Marykate Higley also scored points for the Cards with a fourth-place finish in the 5k.
Sophomore Natalie Troy had a great day in the hurdles, finishing eighth in the 400m hurdles (1:13.32), and tenth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 18.02.
In the field events, the women's throwers in junior Gabby Tomasura and senior Andrea Galeano each posted two top ten finishes in all four of the throwing events. Tomasura placed sixth in the javelin with a mark of 28.43m and finished tenth in the discus throw (30.63m). While Galeano placed sixth in the women's hammer throw (44.61m) and ninth in the shot put (10.85m).
Catholic will return to action Saturday, April 6 at the Millersville Metrics beginning at 9:15 a.m.
