McClellan Captures 800 Meter Title

WASHINGTON (April 2, 2005) - Catholic University of America freshman Samantha McClellan won the 800 meters (2:38.54) and placed third in the 1500 meters (5:19.92) at the Goucher College Track and Field Classic in Towson, Md., on Saturday. A politics major, McClellan is also a member of the Capital Athletic Conference second place swimming and third place cross country teams. 

In other track meet action, Noreen Kelly and Patricia Keenan took third (2:45.97) and fourth (2:46.39) respectively in the 800 meters, Noel Burns finished fourth (64.87) in the 400 meters and Kristin Prieur finished fourth (18.97) in the 100 meter hurdles. In field events, Kim Stengle and Jennie Santoro placed second (36.54 m) and fourth (24.98 m) respectively in the hammer throw and Stengle also finished third (30.52 m) in the javelin throw.

The Cardinals placed fourth in an eight-team field with 70 points.
