Stengle earns three all-conference honors


SALISBURY, Md.- The Catholic University women's track team tied their best finish ever taking third place with 78 points for the second year in a row at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships Saturday in Maryland.  Mary Washington took first scoring 200 and the host Sea Gulls placed second with 196 points.

Kim Stengle (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) led the Cards earning first team All-CAC in the hammer throw (43.39m), javelin (36.31m) and shot put (11.24m).  She also earned second team in the discus throwing a 34.97m.  In other field events, Kelly Szal (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) placed third in the triple jump with a 9.87m and Kristen Kennedy (Great Falls, Va./Kolbe Academy) was fifth in the high jump clearing 1.42m. 

On the track, Remy Ball (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) was third in the 1,500 meters finishing in 4:58.57. In the hurdles, Kennedy was third in the 400 hurdles whhile Szal placed fourth in the 100 hurdles with a 17.06.  The 4x400 relay placed fourth running a 4:14.27, the team had a similar fate in the 4x100 with a 54.56.

The squad will have a week off before the Mason Dixon Championships May 5-6.
