CUA competes at Messiah College Invitational

GRANTHAM, Pa. – CUA continued its season on Saturday at the Messiah College Invitational.  There were several strong performances by the Cardinals throughout the day, including third place finishes by Camelia Mayfield and Kelly Carioto and fifth place finishes by Keely Eckberg and the 4x400 relay team.

CUA scored 24 points and placed 12th out of 16 schools in attendance at the meet with Messiah taking the top spot after totaling 145 points.  Misericordia was second with 103 points and Elizabethtown was next with 97.5.

In the 3000 meter steeplechase Camelia Mayfield finished third with a time of 12:23.69 and Keely Eckberg crossed in fifth place in the 5000 with a time of 20:28.49.

In the 800 meters Ali Nelson finished ninth, crossing in a time of 63.60 seconds.

CUA's 4x400 relay team finished fifth with a time of 4:21.62 and in the shot put Kelly Carioto placed third after a throw of 37'0 1/4".

Carioto also competed in the discus, where she came in seventh place with a throw of 103'4".

CUA returns to action next weekend when the Cardinals compete at the Gettysburg Invitational.  Action on April 16 gets underway beginning at 10 a.m.
