Cardinal Volleyball Ends Tri-Match Action With A Single Victory

WASHINGTON – On Saturday, Sept. 14, Catholic, Randolph-Macon and Shenandoah participated in tri-match action, where CUA finished the day with a loss to Randolph-Macon and win over Shenandoah in Winchester, Va.

Randolph-Macon defeated the Cardinals 28-26, 25-19, 25-19. Mary Paige Nesfeder led the offensive effort with a team-high 13 kills, while Mariana Cruz distributed 25 assists out-of-the team's total 30.  Michelle Bouchard and Kelsey Leddy collected double-figure digs with 14 digs and 10 digs, respectively.  Kathryn Herrington finished with an impressive six solo blocks.

Directly after their opening match, CUA defeated Shenandoah in four sets, 20-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-21.  Nesfeder and Herrington topped the match with 18 kills and 12 kills, respectively.  Cruz notched a season-high 35 assists.  Four Cardinals recorded double-digit digging outings, Bouchard led with 23 digs, Nesfeder gathered 18 digs, Bollet tallied 16 digs, and Chefalas collected 10 digs.

CUA returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 21 with the Misericordia Tri-Match.  The Cardinals take on Rutgers-Camden and Misericordia.
