WASHINGTON - After a 3-1 victory over Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Catholic University volleyball team extends its win streak to victories with a record of seven wins over six losses.
In the 25-15, 25-17, 21-25, 25-17 victory, three Cards recorded double-figure kill numbers. Mary Paige Nesfeder, who was named Landmark Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 23, led CUA with 12 kills, Audrey Bizak finished with 11 kills and Kathryn Herrington cranked out 10 kills. Offensive leader Mariana Cruz distributed 36 of the team's total 39 assists. Kelsey Leddy upset the Lancaster serve receive pattern with a team-high three service aces. Michelle Bouchard picked up 29 digs, as Nesfeder and Megan Chefalas tallied 11 digs apiece. Bizak guided the blocking effort with three solo blocks.
The Cards return to the Nation's Capital for the 7th Annual Worthington Classic hosted Gallaudet University on Sept. 27-28. CUA takes on Mary Washington, Messiah and Whittier during the two-day event.
Collectively, the Cards finished with 47 kills, 39 assists, nine service aces, 79 digs and seven team blocks.
