Kulesh, Nesfeder, Bouchard Represent Catholic on All-Landmark Teams

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University volleyball had three student-athletes selected to the All-Landmark Second Team, announced on Thursday, Nov. 14. Bridget Kulesh, Mary Paige Nesfeder, and Michelle Bouchard were all named Second Team All-Landmark for their play during the 2013 season which saw the Cardinals advance to the conference semifinals.

Wrapping up a stellar career for the red and black, this is Bridget Kulesh's first ever All-Landmark honor. The 6-2 outside hitter played in all 38 matches for the Cardinals, tallying 184 kills, 34 assists, 105 digs, and 69 blocks. During her four years, the Gaithersburg, Md., native recorded 871 blocks, 403 digs, 213 blocks, 120 assists, and 15 service aces in 131 matches played.

Breaking onto the scene for the Cardinals is outside hitter Mary Paige Nesfeder. The Bethlehem, Pa., native was third in the conference with 401 kills this season. She wraps up her rookie campaign with 386 digs, a team-high 55 service aces, 35 blocks, and nine assists in 38 matches played. The 5-10 freshman was also the only Cardinal to be named the Landmark Player of the Week, after earning the award on September 23 for leading CUA to a 2-0 record at the Misericordia Tri-Match. That weekend she compiled 12 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Rutgers-Camden and tallied 17 kills in a 3-1 win over Misericordia. She finished hitting .451 in the two matches and added 2.29 digs per set.

The third All-Landmark selection for Catholic is another impact freshman, Michelle Bouchard. The Cardinal libero played in all 38 matches and her 708 digs on the season were best in the conference. A native of Andover, Mass., Bouchard also had 10 assists and 25 service aces. The 5-5 rookie broke the 30-dig mark on four occasions, including a career-high 36 digs in a 3-2 win over Penn St. - Behrend.

The Cardinals went 23-15, and 3-2 in conference, earning the No. 3 seed in the Landmark Tournament. Catholic defeated No. 6 Goucher 3-0 to advance to the semifinal round. The 2013 season marks the fifth straight year that CUA has won at least 20 games.
