WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of American volleyball team had its final two matches at the Gallaudet Invitational, but were topped by both Fairleigh-Dickinson Florham and DeSales, 3-0.
Against FDU-Florham, junior outside hitter Maria Cristina Juelle went for double-digit kills and was buoyed by eight and nine kills by Brynn Cooley and Mary Paige Nesfeder. The Cards could not break through however as FDU totaled 89 digs in the match, countering the CUA attack.
Junior libero Michelle Bouchard was also strong in the game, tallying 28 digs in just three sets.
In the match against DeSales, Bouchard followed up her performance with 16 more digs while sophomore setter Michelle Seals totaled 15 assists, but the Cards will only able to register 17 kills in the three-set affair, failing to get past 14 points in two of the games.
The four-match weekend for the Cards ends a grueling 16-game road trip. Catholic now returns home to the DuFour Center for the first time in over a month, hosting Elizabethtown and Moravian in a pivotal Landmark weekend.
