WASHINGTON – Needing two wins on the final day of conference play, The Catholic University of America volleyball team came away with two huge victories, including a sweep of Moravian in a winner-to-the-playoffs showdown. With the win and a morning 3-1 win over Elizabethtown, CUA earns the No. 4 seed in the Landmark Tournament and will play at No. 1 Juniata on November 4, at 7 p.m.
Sophomore opposite side hitter Maria Cristina Juelle was locked in for Catholic, going for 30 kills on the day, including 17 against Elizabethtown in a double-double performance, totaling 11 digs.
The Cardinals sophomore setter, Michelle Seals, also came up big as she totaled 35 assists and three service aces in the victory over Elizabethtown, before adding 31 more helpers versus Moravian and two aces that swung the third and deciding set in CUA's favor.
Junior libero Michelle Bouchard was all over the court for CUA, going for 19 and 17 digs against Elizabethtown and Moravian, respectively.
The Cards will now have a matchup with Landmark-leading Juniata on their docket, but have six nonconference games to fine-tune its performance, beginning with a double-header next Saturday as they host Lancaster Bible and Hood.
