TOWSON, Md. - Catholic University volleyball freshman Josephine Morrill was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Morrill is the second Cardinal to be named athlete of the week by the conference in as many years after junior Maria Gonzalez earned the honor on Sept. 4, 2018.
In five matches last week, Morrill posted four double doubles, totaling 58 kills and 65 digs. She averaged 3.41 kills and 3.82 digs per set.
Morrill was named to the all-tournament team at the Worthington Classic hosted by Gallaudet University. She totaled three double doubles in four matches, totaling 46 kills and 52 digs. She averaged 3.29 kills and 3.71 digs per set while adding seven service aces. She had 15 kills and 15 digs in the Cardinals' sweep of Gallaudet on Saturday.
Morrill now has 234 kills this season for a team-high 3.61 kills per set, ranking sixth among freshman in Division III. She also is second on the team with 190 digs this season, trailing only sophomore libero Caroline Kelly.
Catholic returns to Gallaudet on Wednesday for a 7 p.m., match against the Bison.
