Volleyball repeats at W&L Invitational

The Catholic University women's volleyball team captured the Washington & Lee Invitational for a second consecutive season in Lexington, Va., on Sept. 9. The Cardinals finished 4-0 in the six-team tournament to stand at 6-1 overall.

CUA began with a 3-0 victory against North Carolina Wesleyan and a 3-2 win against Johns Hopkins on Friday. On Saturday the Cards defeated conference rival St. Mary's (Md.) 3-0 and then won the championship with a 3-1 victory against Hopkins.

Sophomore setter Bridget Guetle led CUA with 146 assists (9.73 apg) and five service aces. Junior outside hitter Liz Carden recorded 26 kills (3.25 kpg), as did freshman outside hitter Anji Wall. Sophomore outside hitter Elizabeth Schreiner had 46 blocks (5.63 bpg) and junior middle hitter Kelly Kings registered a team-high 63 digs (5.73 dpg).

No All-Tournament team was selected.
