Abdelrazek gets 300th win against Neumann

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Catholic University women's volleyball split for a fourth place finish at the Haverford Invitational this past weekend.  The team went 2-2 in four matches including a win against Neumann which was head coach Nagy Abdelrazek's 300th career victory.  Freshman Carey Anne Nassib (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria) and junior Emily McGlynn (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) were both named to the all-tournament squad after exceptional performances throughout the two-day event.

CUA dropped the first match to tournament host Haverford College 3-0 with scores 20-30, 23-30 and 26-30.  Nassib led the team with 11 kills and 17 digs.  McGlynn added 31 assists.

The second match on Saturday was against Susquehanna.  The Cardinals won 3-0 scoring 30-20, 30-12 and 30-26.  Senior captain Whitney Dachelet (Anniston, Ala./Donoho) had 12 kills and five digs.  Setter McGlynn notched 31 assists and three kills in the win.

On day two, CUA started out with an intense five-game match against Neumann College eventually winning 3-2.  Nassib led the scoring with 15 total kills and added 21 digs.  Senior Jessica Schoenfeld (West Windsor, N.J./Plainsboro) had five kills in the match including three in game one, which CUA won 30-26.  Dachelet got on a hot streak during the third game where she laid down six kills in the 30-20 victory.  This marked Abdelrazek's 300th win. 

The final match of the tournament was against St. Mary's College (Md.).  CUA dropped the match in three games 25-30, 30-32 and 21-30.  McGlynn had another impressive game with 29 assists, 11 digs and one kill.  Nassib added a team-high 10 kills and junior Cathleen Carroll (Ann Arbor, Mich./A.A. Pioneer) had 11 digs.

The Cards will return to the court next Friday and Saturday at the Gettysburg Tournament.
