Volleyball Drops Match to Seahawks
Nassib leads with 16 kills
ST. MARY'S, Md.- The Catholic University women's volleyball squad (2-3) dropped a 3-1 decision to the St. Mary's Seahawks (5-0) Wednesday evening in Maryland. The Cards won the first game but struggled in the next two and were finished off in the fourth contest. The loss drops the squad to 2-3 on the season.
CUA squeaked out a win in the first game 30-28 holding off the Seahawk attack. However, the second and third games didn't go CUA's way as attack errors and service errors plagued the Cards. The team lost 30-14 and 30-15. The Cardinals regrouped in the fourth game and looked like they could even the score but in the end SMC prevailed winning 30-23 and taking the match.
Carey Anne Nassib (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy ) led the Cards with 16 kills and 28 digs. Setter Emily McGlynn (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) continued to set well for CUA with 35 assists. First year outside hitter Alex Min-Tun (San Jose, Calif./Notre Dame) had 10 kills but also a number of errors at the net.
CUA will travel to Gettysburg this weekend for a two-day tournament.
