Lyons Leads Catholic to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America women's cross country senior standout Kiera Lyons helped lead the Cardinals to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honor as she was also selected as an All-Academic Individual performer.

In order to qualify for this honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Lyons boasted a 3.87 GPA in physics and earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors after her 19th-place finish at NCAA South/Southeast Regionals.

She was joined by seven other Cardinals who also earned Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll honors. Seniors Becky Chominski, Erin McNulty and Justine Piraino, junior Theresa Matula along with sophomores Alex Filiault, Emily Snyder and Madeleine Strokis all made the list and helped Catholic qualify for the honor with a team GPA of at least 3.10.

The Cardinals boasted a team GPA of 3.4.
