WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University women's cross country team started the season off with a strong performance at the Howard Labor Day Classic finishing in 1st place overall with 26 points on Saturday.
Catholic ended the day with six top-10 finishers. Senior Kiera Lyons led the team finishing in 2nd with a time of 20:04.45. Freshman Paige Wilderotter followed just behind in 3rd place (20:20.63), while freshman Hannah Marino finished 5th (21:19.82). Sophomore Tara Thornton crossed the finish line in 7th place (22:04.14), with Sophomore Shannon Griffin following with a 9th-place finish (22:15.66), and junior Alex Filiault finished in 10th place (23:10.12).
The Cardinals will race next at the Dutchmen Invitational on September 8 at 10 a.m.
