LEBONAN, Pa. - The Catholic University Women's Cross Country team finished in third place with 81 overall points at the Landmark Conference Championships on Saturday.
The Cards were led by senior Kiera Lyons finishing in ninth place with a time of 23:41.62. Sophomore Tara Thornton was the next Cardinal to finish with personal-record of 24:04.28. Freshman Paige Wilderotter finished just behind Thornton with a time of 24:06.23. Freshman Hannah Marino was the fourth Card to cross the finish line with a time of 24:17.46, placing her in 19th out of 81 runners.
"The women performed very well today." Said first-year Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Steve Rahn. "Although they were picked to finish sixth in the Landmark Conference preseason poll, the ladies worked extremely hard as a team all season to our best championship finish in six years. The results we've seen throughout the year, with six straight meets placing in third or better and many personal records, indicate the start of a successful future for Catholic University women's cross country."
Catholic will race next at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional in Mt. Berry, Ga. on Saturday, November 10 at 11 a.m.
