CUA women impress at NCAA Regionals in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Cardinals finished an impressive 11th at the NCAA Regional Championship on Saturday on the campus of Rhodes College as CUA closed out its 2010 season.  Senior Madeline Cronan led CUA as she finished 28th in a time of 23:22.  For her efforts, Cronan earned All-Region accolades and she received a medal for the honor.

Along with Cronan, other Cardinals that placed on Saturday were Camelia Mayfield in 50th place (24:09), Kathryn Sacker in 62nd place (24:33), Meghan Dietzler in 79th (25:05) and Laura Kinley in 80th place with a time of 25:06.

Jessica Breen (25:08) and Keely Eckberg (25:15) also competed for CUA on the day.

The host Rhodes College won the team championship with a total of 50 points, while Emory (54), Christopher (177), Centre (186) and Lynchburg (198) finished second through fifth. 

Tess Gallegos of Emory won the individual crown as she crossed in a time of 21:51, while Rhodes' Taylor Stephens (22:01) finished second and Natalie Fenn of Emory placed third as she crossed in 22:19.
