No. 8 Field Hockey Victorious at Rhodes, 2-0

Memphis, Tenn. – The Catholic University of America field hockey team improved to 2-0 early in the season with a road victory at Rhodes on Saturday, 2-0. The nationally ranked Cardinals, who check in at No. 8 in the country, posted its second-straight shutout to open the 2015 season.

Senior goalkeeper Analisa Scott posted her second perfect game in as many matches, stopping seven shots to keep Rhodes off the scoresheet.

Catholic notched the gamewinner in the 30th minute as senior Tarah Portland took the feed from Taylor Elliott for her first score of the season.

CUA added an insurance score 10 minutes into the second half as sophomore Rachel Day tallied her second goal in as many games, finding the back of the net, unassisted.

The Catholic defense shown brightly for head coach Gia Cillizza as the Cardinals held Rhodes to nine total shots, including just one in the first half.

CUA wraps up its southern road trip, playing Hendrix tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Rhodes College.
