Glassboro, N.J. – The Catholic University of America field hockey team suffered its first lost of the season, falling at Rowan, 2-0. The No. 7 Cardinals had started their season 4-0, but were shut out for the first time, facing a team that was receiving votes in the national top-25 poll.
Despite Catholic's first loss, junior goalkeeper Analisa Scott was strong in the cage, stopping a season-high 15 shots, holding Rowan off the scoreboard for the first half and first 45 minutes of the game.
Rowan broke through in the 46th minute, scoring off a rebound. Another loose ball in in the 68th led an insurance score and a 2-0 lead.
CUA was outshot 21-10 as the Rowan keeper made eight saves.
Catholic has a full week off from competition before returning home to Cardinal Stadium on Saturday, September 19 at 5:30 p.m., against Misericordia.
