Towson, Md. – The Catholic University of America field hockey team continues its perfect run in October, registering its fourth-straight shutout in a 5-0 victory at Goucher. The No. 18 Cardinals are now 4-0 in October, outscoring opponents, 23-0.
The blank sheet on the road was the eighth shutout of the year for head coach Gia Cillizza's crew as they are perfect since the calendar month has changed.
Catholic scored all five of its goals in the first half as the Cards limited Goucher to just five shots in the game, including only two in the initial period.
Senior Taylor Elliott scored the gamewinner five minutes into the game, taking the field from sophomore Marisa Martinelli. Elliott would later add her second goal of the match just 12 minutes later, going unassisted, streaking right then shooting left for her fifth score of the season.
Not to be outdone, rookie Molly Crowley also found the back of the cage twice, scoring twice in a three-and-half minute span.
CUA returns home to Cardinal Stadium this weekend for another Landmark showdown, facing Scranton on Saturday at 1 p.m.
