Six Cardinals Chosen for All-Landmark Honors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Catholic University field hockey team was recognized for their accomplishments in their 2019 season by claiming six All-Landmark selections with three First Team and three Second Team nominations. 

Senior forward Katie Anderson was joined by two of her teammates as All-Landmark First Team nominations. Junior midfielder Kelly Cancelmo and sophomore defender Grace Jung were chosen for their performances on the field.  

Anderson played in all 20 games and posted several career highs in her senior season including goals, points and shooting percentage. She led the Cardinals with 12 goals and three assists, totaling 27 points. The forward had two hat trick performances – once in the 8-0 win against Landmark opponent Goucher and again in the 13-1 victory over Notre Dame (Md.).  

Cancelmo started in all 20 games the Cardinals faced on their schedule this season. She recorded career highs of eight goals, three assists and 19 points. 

Jung has been a vital member of the Cardinals' defense. A two-time All-Conference First Team honoree, she has played a total of 37 games in the past two years and has earned three career goals and one assist as a defender.

Sophomore forward Hannah Bateman, junior midfielder Meghan Shallow and senior defender Carly Philbin were selected for the All-Conference second team. 

Bateman earns her first All-Landmark honor after posting career highs of eight goals scored and nine assists this season, recording 25 points. 

Shallow is also a two-time All-Conference nominee as she was chosen for the First Team in the 2018 season. She started 18 games and her seven goals scored this season includes two game-winners along with five assists. 

Philbin caps off her collegiate season having started all 20 games for the Cards. The defender totaled one assist and two defensive saves, tying her career highs from last season.
