WASHINGTON, D.C. - An impressive start to the season for the Catholic University men's soccer team has been recognized by the United Soccer Coaches organization, ranking the Cardinals at No. 10 in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Catholic enters the rankings in the second poll of the season after a 3-1 record to begin the year with wins over Baruch, Fredonia and Stevenson. Messiah tops the rankings with a 5-0-1 record followed by Franklin & Marshall and Lycoming rounding out the top three.
The successful beginning to the campaign is the team's best since the 2013 season, in which head coach Travis Beauchamp's men hopped out to a 3-1-1 start before falling to then No. 1-ranked Messiah.
Catholic faces a challenging test in it's return to action tomorrow with an away match against Mary Washington at 2:30 p.m. After the midweek game, the Cardinals will host their first Landmark Conference contest of the season with a 2 p.m., battle with Scranton on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Cardinal Stadium.
