Cardinals Defeated on the Road at No. 17 Mary Washington, 2-0

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Catholic University men's soccer team suffered its second loss of the season with a 2-0 outcome in favor of No. 17 Mary Washington on Wednesday afternoon. 

The Cardinals (3-2) battled strongly throughout the match taking ten shots and earning seven corner kick opportunities.

The Cards forced the Eagles' goalkeeper Ken Kurtz into making four saves, as Ben Alexander took two shots on goal, and Paul Egan and Jake Nabbie each had one on target. 

On defense, sophomore Nick Battaglia and junior Mitch Ford held Mary Washington to just three shots on goal.

After 43 minutes of scoreless play, the Eagles (6-0-1) struck first to take the lead, and added a second in the 64th minute to put the game away. 

The Cardinals host their first Landmark Conference contest of the season with a 2 p.m. battle with Scranton on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Cardinal Stadium.
