Cardinals to Host NCAA First and Second Rounds

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University men's soccer team will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship at Carlini Field on Saturday, Nov. 16 and Sunday, Nov. 17. The No. 21 Cardinals will take on Connecticut College on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The other matchup on Saturday will be No. 3 Johns Hopkins against John Jay at 1 p.m. The two winners on Saturday will square off on Sunday at 3 p.m.

The Cardinals (18-2-1) heard their name called after receiving an automatic bid for winning their fourth Landmark Conference championship over Elizabethtown on Saturday, 2-0. No. 18 Connecticut College qualified via an at-large bid as one of four NESCAC schools in this year's tournament.

The Camels (10-3-3) fell to Middlebury on penalty kicks in the NESCAC quarterfinals. The team went 6-2-2 in NESCAC games which featured fellow NCAA tournament qualifiers No. 1 Amherst, No. 5 Tufts and Middlebury.

Catholic will make its fifth NCAA tournament appearance under head coach Travis Beauchamp and first since 2014. That year, the Cardinals advanced to the second round before falling to Muhlenburg on penalty kicks.

Catholic is 10-1-1 at home this season and enter Saturday's contest riding a six-game winning streak.
