Huntingdon, Pa. - The Catholic University of America women’s soccer team fell in a Landmark Conference matchup to Juniata College, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals held the Eagles scoreless in the first half and maintained control with an 8-2 shooting advantage in the first 45 minutes.
The Eagles got a quick second-half start with a goal just 41 seconds after the kickoff. Catholic fought back firing off 12 shots in the remaining 44 minutes but were unable to convert a score.
Rookie Michelle Diaz-Silveira and sophomore Elizabeth Johnson guided the Catholic offense with three shots apiece. Freshman Bridget Buckley along with seniors Riley Hawblitzel and Andrea Jablonskyj each took two attempts at the target.
Catholic goalkeeper senior Ally Marcello earned her third start of the season and made three saves during the contest.
The Cardinals return to the nation’s capital to host Lynchburg on Tuesday, October 3, at 4 p.m.
