WASHINGTON, D.C. - Junior forward Elizabeth Johnson and sophomore goalkeeper Nina Fernandez have been selected as Landmark Conference Athletes of the Week after impressive performances with Catholic University women's soccer team this past weekend.
During the Cardinals' opening games, Johnson racked up seven total points, scoring two goals and assisting on three more. In Friday's 2-0 win over York, she assisted Maggie Moorcones' game-winning goal in the 85th minute. She followed that up with two goals and two assists in the 5-0 victory over DeSales on Sunday.
Fernandez did not let a shot get past her in the opening weekend of action, earning two clean sheet wins. She made ten saves in the two matches.
The Cards return home for a match against Hood College on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m.
