TOWSON, Md. - Catholic University women's swimming freshman Madeline Doucette been selected as the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Doucette continued an impressive start to her collegiate career with three event wins in Catholic's meet against Elizabethtown College on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Cardinals defeated the Blue Jays 199-63 for their second dual meet victory of the season, both against conference opponents.
The Yardely, Pa. native swam second in the 200-medley relay to open the meet. Her 31.99 split helped Catholic take first place with a final time of 1:55.40.
Doucette then touched first in the 100-breaststroke event with a 1:11.93 time, beating the second-place finisher by more than four seconds.
The freshman contributed to a third first-place finish in the final event of the afternoon, the 200-freestyle relay. Swimming third, her 26.63 split aided the Cardinals to take first with a relay time of 1:46.32.
Catholic travels Towson, Md., to take on another Landmark Conference opponent in Goucher next Saturday, Nov. 16.
