Cardinals win second straight, take down Adrian 8-1

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – CUA improved to 8-1 this season with an 8-1 win over Adrian on Monday morning. The Cardinals swept the singles matches, with Marge Selinger, Ritamarie Holden, Caitlin Porter, Liz Harvey, Emma Needham and Isabel Tanco picking up wins.

Selinger began the day with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Arielle Williams at the 1st singles flight, with Holden picking up a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the 2nd flight.

At 3rd singles, Porter downed Jordenne Ferenczi 6-4, 6-0, and Harvey earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Justine Hanson at the 4th flight.

Needham earned a 6-2, 6-1 win against Jordyn Grant at 5th singles, and Tanco defeated Kathryn Van Wormer 6-0, 6-0 at the 6th flight.

In doubles action, Holden and Porter defeated Morgan Spencer and Hanson 8-2 at the 2nd flight, while Needham and Blinne Finnegan downed Grant and Karen Kienitz 8-3 at the 3rd flight.

CUA's lone loss of the morning came at the 1st doubles flight when Selinger and Harvey dropped a tough 8-7 decision.

The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday when they take on St. Vincent at 1 p.m.
