Cardinal Tennis Continues Down the Unbeaten Path

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University men's and women's tennis teams remain unbeaten in fall action, as the men defeated St. Mary's 7-2  and the women conquered the Hawks 6-3 in St. Mary's City, Md., at the Somerset Tennis Complex.

For the first win of the doubleheader event, the men's team took the No. 1 and No.2 doubles win.  Brian Bradley and Juan Lorido took an 8-2 win and the duo of Joe Peters and Jason Quisberth took an 8-6 win. 

Lorido went on to win his No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-4, as Bradley defeated his SMC opponent 6-3, 6-3, No. 3 Peters finished with a 6-1, 6-2 victory, Quisberth swept his foe 6-0, 6-0, and No. 6 Conor Wilson closed out singles play with a 6-3, 6-4 win.

On the women's side, St. Mary's held CUA to a 2-1 deficit at the end of doubles action, with No. 2 doubles team Andie Ingram and Laura Torsiello obtaining the only doubles win with a score of 8-2.

The Cardinals found more success during singles action only dropping one set.  No. 1 singles player Elaina Sceusa defeated SMC's Shannon Ramsey 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, No. 3 Eliana Martinez overpowered Lauren Rost 6-1, 6-7, 6-1, Torsiello took a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 4 slot, Ingram defeated Emily Rost 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (9-7), and No. 6 Maria Notarianni conquered Kayla Baier 6-1, 6-1.
