Kitz Leads Cardinals at Crusader Indoor Classic

WASHINGTON - Freshman Catherine Kitz highlighted the Cardinals showing at the Crusader Indoor Classic, taking second place in the 3000m run with a time of 10:52.45.

Kitz led the way for the Cardinals, while Sara Lally (11:35.05) and Erin Schlegel (11:39.57) finished in 19th and 22nd place in the same event.

Kitz earned another top-10 finish in her other race of the day, finishing the 1 Mile run in sixth place with a 5:30.03 time. Schlegel was only other Cardinal to compete in the run, crossing the finish line 25th with a 5:56.00 effort.

In the 400m dash, Danielle Caruccio ran a 1:03.41 time to break into the top-10 in ninth place.

The final Cardinal to crack the top-10 was Mary Clark in the throws, the sophomore's 14.20m try in the weight throw earned her a fourth place finish. Clark had a 10.56m throw in the shot put landing her at 14th, ahead of teammate Samantha Kozlowski who placed 25th in the weight throw (9.40m) and 26th in the shot put (9.09m).

Maria Dextra Cercos ran a 10.40 second time in the 60m hurdles for 11th place. Victoria Maue ran the 60m sprint in 8.51 seconds for 16th place. 

In the jumps, Christine Burias cleared the bar at 2.44m in the pole vault, earning her a 12th place spot. Mary Paige Nesfeder competed in the high jump, finishing in 15th place with a 1.42m jump.

Catholic returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 22, when they return to Selinsgrove, Pa. for another meet at Susquehanna.
