Newport News, Va. – The Catholic University of America women's track & field team competed at Christopher Newport's Vince Brown Invitational on Saturday, taking on a plethora of collegiate programs. Several Cardinals posted strong performances as CUA gears up for the Landmark Conference Championships.
Junior sprinter Danielle Caruccio crossed the finish line in the in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.67, placing ninth in the event. She also ran the 200-meter dash in 27.99, good for 19th overall.
Sophomore Becky Chominski also put up a strong time in the 800, finishing 11th overall at 2:33.20.
Rookie hurdler Victoria Turner turned in CUA's top performance in the 60 meters, finishing 14th in 10.31.
Senior jumper Stephanie Taylor cleared 1.48 meters to place eighth at the invite. She also took 12th in the triple jump at 9.56 meters.
The Cardinals have just two more events before the Landmark Championships. All three of CUA's next events will take place a Susquehanna, beginning with the SU Invite next Friday.
