Catholic Volleyball Prepares For The First Landmark Conference Weekend

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University women's volleyball team will compete in the first Landmark Conference Tournament of 2013 on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 6 in Selinsgrove, Pa., at Susquehanna.

During last season's opening conference tournament event, CUA ended the two-day event 3-0.

The Cards are 8-9 on the season, CUA is 3-1 in home action, 3-1 on the road and 2-7 in a neutral location.

Kathryn Herrington and Mary Paige Nesfeder, who was named Landmark Conference Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 23, lead the attack category.  With 109 kills and 17 errors on 271 attempts, Herrington leads with the highest hitting percentage at .339, while Nesfeder tallies the largest number of kills at 174 on the year.  Starting setter Mariana Cruz has competed guided the offense in all 60 sets this season and has distributed 450 assists thus far.  Nesfeder, Cruz and Michelle Bouchard dominate the serving effort with a combined 55 service aces.

Herrington is also strong on the defensive side of the ball with 39 solo blocks and 69 total, Bouchard leads the digging effort with 314 digs.
