Volleyball Drops First Match of the 2015 Season, Falling to McDaniel

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America volleyball team saw it stretch of 15-straight sets and five-consecutive matches unbeaten come to end Wednesday night against McDaniel. The Cardinals were topped, 3-0, by the Green Terror.

McDaniel came out strong to take the first set, 25-12. The Cardinals battled back and were in back-and-forth games the next two sets, but the Terror prevailed in each, 25-18.

Sophomore setter Michelle Seals posted 20 assists and added eight digs to lead CUA. Maria Cristina Juelle paced Catholic with eight kills and added five digs and two service aces.

Junior Mary Paige Nesfeder was just behind Juelle's performance with seven kills, six digs and an ace.

McDaniel double-dipped across the board, boasting two different players in double figures in each major category: kills, assists and digs.

The Cardinals will look to regroup quickly as they host the CUA Guetle Invitational this weekend, hosting 12 games in a span of two days, beginning Friday at 2 p.m.
