Seals’ Double-Double Not Enough Against Marymount

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America volleyball was topped on Wednesday night inside the DuFour Center as the Marymount Saints went over, 3-0. Senior Michelle Seals enjoyed a strong match with 21 assists and 10 digs and added a kill and a block as the Cardinals celebrated senior night.

Marymount showed strong hitting with 49 kills on a .261 hitting percentage and racked up 56 digs to limit the Cardinal attack.

Senior Maria Cristina Juelle posted a strong line with eight kills, five digs a service ace and a block assist while classmate and libero Jordan Villaruel matched Seals with 10 digs and added an assist, an ace and her first career kill.

It was all senior starting lineup for Catholic as Seals, Juelle and Villaruel well joined by middle hitters Amy O'Connor and Tara Rempel, along with outside hitters Brynn Cooley and Bridget Farley.

The Cards now head into an all-important third Landmark Weekend needing at least a win to clinch a spot in the Landmark Semifinals for the third-straight season.

Catholic heads up to Goucher on Saturday, September 28, for matches against Elizabethtown and Moravian and 1:30 p.m., and 4 p.m., respectively.
